Dear Friends,

This is a reminder of the March meeting, being held on March 8th at Captain Jack's restaurant on Rte. 11 near Rte. 80 exit. We will start at 6:30.

The first experiment of Tuesday night meetings was a big success. Several people attended February's meeting. I will distribute some information about the PA 2nd Breeding Bird Atlas.

Nancy and I are working on banquet plans in April.

Spring is coming. Red-winged Blackbird flocks have been flying around the area. I've heard reports from Slabtown and Nescopeck. Some American Robin flocks are also moving through the area. I've seen 4 Eastern Meadowlarks near the Lemon Church in Greenwood Valley, but these birds may have stayed the winter.

Other bird reports: Short-eared Owls have been flying around Welliversville along the Millertown Road. I've seen them twice the last week in the early evening just before and after sundown. Yesterday, a Short-ear flew along our road. There also have been some Rough-legged Hawks around. In the last 3 days, I've seen Rough-legs near our house, along Owl Road, on Distillery Hill, & near Washingtonville. Red-tails are paired up and kestrels are looking for nest sites.

Northern Cardinals, Black-capped Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, Carolina Wrens, House Finches, and Northern Mockingbirds are singing.

Please spread the word about the meeting to others that don't have e-mail.

 Hope to see you tomorrow,

 Doug Gross
