Monitoring The Streams Of Fishing Creek

Flow Events

Frequent Flood Events occur every 1 to 5 years causing little or no scour to the streambanks but eventually causes the greatest amount of sediment load to be carried through the system (75%).

Episodic Flood Events occur every 10 to 25 years causing a moderate amount of scour to banks.

Catastrophic Flood Events occur every 50 to 100 years and cause the greatest amount of scour, carry the biggest sediment load during the event, and inflict the greatest amount of damage to an area. Catastrophic flood events struck during this past century in 1936, 1972, and 1996.
