Lightstreet is located along route 487 near Fishing Creek in Scott Township. The elevation is 560 feet above sea level. The nearby towns are Bloomsburg and Espy and Orangeville.

In 1769, Lightstreet was only woodlands, with a few trails and swamps. It was settled in 1772 when James McClure came and built a fort. In 1788, John Eves came. At that time, John Eves owned much of the land near it. A man named Philip Seidle, laid out the plot for Williamsburg. Lightstreet, you see, was once two towns, Williamsburg and McDowell's mills, founded by Matthew McDowell. In 1884, the two towns came together and formed Lightstreet.

There was a large amount of industry located near the town. There were two iron furnaces, a paper mill, iron ore mines, a tannery, two railroads, two Gristmills, and two distilleries.

Lightstreet currently has twin covered bridges, a fire company, a Methodist Church and a number of houses. In the past it has been known to have a Presbyterian and Lutheran Church, in addition to two schools, two Post offices, a Machine, Wagon and Blacksmith Shop, a boiler, a threshing machine, two hotels (which still exist), a Funeral Parlor, Furniture store, Butcher shop and a Fire Hall.
