International Dancing

Every nationality has its own style of music and dancing. People dance for a good harvest, to protect from evil, to celebrate an occasion and to communicate what they are feeling and thinking. Over time, these dances change. Some moves forgotten, others incorporated into new dances. As people moved into the United States from other countries and settled in various regions across Pennsylvania, including the Fishing Creek Watershed, they brought with them the culture of their homelands, namely dancing. The International Dancers are group of individuals here in the Watershed that know many of these traditional dances and perform them in the area. One representative of the group, Tonya Boston-Sagar, demonstrated for us.
