Location: N.E. corner of Columbia County in Sugarloaf Township

Timeline of Events:

1840- Campbell Post Office Constructed

1851- Post Office became the Central Post Office. This gave the town its name.

1855- School opened

1888- Railroad was built through Central. Before that there were dirt roads

1900-1912- A copper smelter was built and operated.

The land is very steep and there are many narrow valleys. Central had a small population and there were very few farms.
