3-Dimensional Topographical Watershed Models

In order to learn how to read topographical maps and understand how these layers translate into a three-dimensional figure, students designed their own personal watersheds. First students created topography maps of their watershed design and then constructed models from these maps. To build the models, students glued layers of Styrofoam onto wooden bases cut to the shape of their own watershed design. These structures were then covered with paper mache and painted.
